Himalayan glacier collapses, river dam breaks in India: 150 missing (VIDEO)

Nearly 150 people have gone missing after flash floods caused a glacier belonging to the Nanda Devi mountain range in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, India, to collapse near a dam.

According to Indian media reports, the glacier crashed near the Rishi River Dam, which flows through the Chamoli district.

The missing persons are a group of workers who had come for the construction of the river hydropower project.

Disaster relief teams have found the bodies of three people who have died so far, Indian media reports.

About 50 workers are believed to have been involved in the construction of a tunnel near the Rishi River dam, and authorities believe they may have drowned when the glacier collapsed.

The dam on the river has been severely damaged by the collapse of the glacier and authorities have advised people in the low-lying areas to move to safer places as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Indian authorities have taken steps to send disaster and rescue teams by air to the scene.
